HarryDavies-1
Harry Davies In my early years I worked at Lime Grove Studios London for Gainsborough Pictures and Gaumont Britain, absorbing everything around me. Later I was with Stan Pavey, one of the best Directors of Photography in the industry. After returning from 3 and a half years in the RAF I did not return to the Motion Picture Industry, but I always retained the knowledge gained. Instead I moved to Jersey for a few years where a passion for antique cars and the arts took over. Returning to London I worked only for the Performing Arts and Fashion in my low profile studio built into my home in St John's Wood. Having always strived to advance my studio lighting techniques, I hope to implant some to my fellow members. On the other hand I am such an awful outdoor photographer and at 84yrs of age I hope my new found friends will also teach me a thing or two! Christina Chaffey is a retired English lady who has lived in Portugal for almost 9yrs. She won her first photography competition aged 8yrs and has continued to develop and indulge in her 'hobby' successfully ever since. Her preferences are landscape, water and travel photography. She uses a Canon fullframe DLSR with little digital manipulation, adjusting contrast and saturation in the Raw file, keeping things as simple as possible in order to preserve the integrity of the photo. Her philosophy is to try to get it right in the camera. To 'capture the moment' and replicate it as closely to the way she saw and felt it at the time in the real world. Photography has always spoken to me. 4 decades as a professional and licenced pilot has given me the opportunity to take aerial photos. That way the two hobbies connect. I’m looking forward to a few restful but active months in the Algarve, commuting between both countries.
