Govert Sakkers, born in Ede, Holland in 1943, retired in 1998 as a brigadier-general, Royal Engineers when he left the Netherlands in his sailing yacht. Now living in São Brás de Alportel with his wife Eveline. He loves and plays jazz (fretless bass-guitar) and grows palm trees in his semi-tropical garden. Govert became a member of the APG in December 2010, having been a keen amateur-photographer from his early days. He works with a Canon 60D and a Pentax K10D and processes his images with ACDsee Pro (only to adjust the overall quality, since he doesn't like extreme "photoshopping"). His philosophy on photography is: "simple is beautiful".
